What are Pharmaceutical Labels

Pharmaceuticals is one of the biggest industries globally and is responsible for researching and developing controlled medicines and drugs to market.

Examples of the types of pharmaceutical products are liquids, medicines, tablets, creams, pastes, powders, surgical and clinical supplies and accessories such as dressings, syringes etc.

These all have their own packaging type (e.g. boxes, tubs, tubes, bottles, vials, bags, sachets), and they all require their own label types.

Many pharmaceutical companies follow PS 9000 accredited guidelines for their product labelling. We work to deliver high-quality manufactured labels according to our customers’ specifications to ensure that their clinical processes are never compromised. CS Labels is also ISO9001 accredited which works perfectly with our customers’ standards.

Our pharmaceutical labels are manufactured to strict quality standards to ensure readability for even the smallest text and with our variable data abilities to apply dates, serials or other required information can be manufactured.

Technical Specifications

Labels can be manufactured in the following materials:

White Polypropylene (PP), silver Polypropylene (PP), clear Polypropylene (PP), white Polyethylene (PE), or various paper stocks with matt or semi-gloss finishes. The PP will always give a higher degree of flexibility compared to the other material choices, so if your product is cylindrical or curved, (for example, round a bottle or tube, that flexibility may be more suitable and support an easier label application.

Both material types can be varnished or laminated depending on its intended use. Lamination will deliver a much tougher durability and can be more costly than varnish.

You also may want to opt for an extra-strength adhesive to ensure that your label can’t be removed easily.

PHARMACEUTICAL LABELS FAQ

Pharmaceutical labels have chemical compositions and are required by law to list all ingredients together with instructions for use and information about the supplying company. Often pharmaceutical products have a best-before or a use-by date. This information can either be printed onto the label or can be manufactured to allow over-printing during the packaging processes.

Designs on pharmaceutical products vary in style, as products are tailored for both clinical and consumer use. At CS Labels, we’re highly experienced in delivering labels for pharmaceutical products for any application required.
