In 2001, the business was re-structured and rebranded to CS Labels and Simon Smith was appointed as Managing Director operating from a 5000 sq. ft. employed 9 staff.
Over the years, the business and workforce grew and Simon knew that the industry was changing. R&D and Innovation were at the forefront and the CS Labels product portfolio really started to change the label market. Commendations, awards and industry recommendations for CS’ peel and reveal solutions were awarded as a result. Investments were continually made, the premises expanded to occupy double the workspace to accommodate changes in technology capabilities.
In 2008 CS Labels went digital! The first Xeikon digital press was installed and a way to future-proof the business was created. The business championed the new technology and eventually was proud to promote that it was 100% digital!
By 2015 CS were multi-award-winners and had developed a totally unique solution to the market. Digitally printed flexible pouches. The accolades were awarded to CS immediately and again, CS disrupted the packaging market, not just in the UK, but internationally too.
2018 was a year of transition for CS. A HUGE investment of £3.5 millions pounds was invested into the business and a move to a new 20,000 sq.ft. site was completed. The new Flexible Pouch solution grew, and bespoke conversion machinery was built and installed on the new site. CS Pouches was born! (for more information visit www.cspouches.co.uk). 2018 delivered 5 industry awards including SME of the Year, The Digital Lables & Packaging Award and others for innovation.
2019 has been a record-breaking year for CS labels. Employing 60 staff with a turnover 10-fold of that of 2001, Innovation is still a major factor of how the business grows. CS was shortlisted for a massive 14 awards and presented with (Print Week’s) Label Printer of the Year, (Digital Printer’s) award for SME Initiative and (The Solutions Awards) Labels & Decorations accolade. CS was also highly commended for a label for a popular gin brand too. Xeikon (CS’ Technology partner) has also had a huge amount of recognition in 2019 and CS Labels also has been a huge part of that.
2020 again is a year of major transition! Keep an eye out on the NEWs tab for more info. Why not follow us on Twitter too!
