Willenhall, West Midlands, 27th March 2013 - As their year end approaches, CS labels reflect on what has been their best year yet in terms of growth, innovation and leadership in the digital labels market. The West Midlands based outfit have grown from a small screen print outfit into one of the most successful family owned digital label printers in Europe.

Recent developments have included:

- 100% increase in office space

- 50% increase in printing capacity

- Creation of six jobs in digital printing, digital finishing, graphic design, and sales support roles.

        - Further investment into equipment:

        - Third Xeikon digital label press (wide format) – five presses altogether

        - Installation of equipment to manufacture peel and reveal labels in-house

        - New wider finishing line due March/April 2013

- Largest digital label printer in Europe using Xeikon technology.

- Larger studio space with state of the art Apple Mac technology and larger board room with teleconferencing facilities.

- True world class leader in digital label print – 100% of all labels are printed digitally.

- Production of high end ‘peel and reveal’ labels in-house – fitting more information on to one label in a smaller space with multiple pages in full colour throughout and variable data.

- New temperature controlled storage area for materials to ensure stability and help with quality.

- First firm in the UK to adopt Xeikon’s Color Control System that ensures 100% colour consistency across all printing presses.

- Introduction of Color Logic special effects, to enable metallic printing, selected by customers to make their brand really stand out and reduce cost of foil blocking.

- Use of Xeikon software, VariLane, allows labels of different lengths and sizes on one reel, combining various jobs into one print run, thus reducing cost.

Next steps: further investment into digital finishing equipment, further recruitment and resource investment into marketing.

Managing Director Simon Smith said “We’re not afraid to lead the way at CS Labels, in fact it has been the secret of our success. We’ve been very bold by investing in innovative equipment, introducing fresh ways of working and not being afraid of getting stuck in to forward-thinking technologies. Everything we do is designed to ensure our customers can be confident that their brand stands out. There are various challenges with digital print and our knowledge means we are able to specify quality solutions for our customers. We also have a strong commitment to continuing professional development, maintaining a high level of digital print skills within the business.”

He continues: “Gone are the days of origination charges and the uncertainty of quality, speed and out-pricing where digital label printing is concerned. Our customers know that they can obtain the highest industry standard labels and packaging, whether they need a one label prototype label or a run of fifty million. Speed-wise technology has increased to a point where digital covers the majority of our customer base. Orders printed on demand lengths are becoming the norm because customers are now looking at cash flow rather than holding extended stock on the shelf for 3, 6 or even 12 months at a time. Digital labels are now being produced to follow production plans rather than marketing plans, and our on-demand offering means there is less waste and storage space. We’re at the forefront of working with large companies to take advantage of this whilst still offering excellent value for money. We spend a lot of time dispelling all of these myths”.

Next on the list for CS is further investment into a 500mm wide Grafisk Maskinfabrik finishing press. Watch this space for more details.
