As if our first award nomination for the work we’ve done with Phil Vickery’s beer label isn’t enough, we’re also over the moon to announce that the limited edition label project we undertook for the Northern Monk Brewery has been nominated for the Digital Printer Awards, the winners of which are announced on 2 October 2014

The Northern Monk guys are known as a young fresh and passionate company that produce bold, progressive, British craft beer.
Taste is key to the product, and high on the agenda is producing an ‘experience’ that we consumers can interact with, engage with… and enjoy more.
One of their recent products was a limited edition collaboration’ barley wine style ale’ with Allgates brewery called ‘Northern Gates’.
The idea is to treat the beer like a wine vintage and allow the flavours to develop over time – a special drink for a special occasion.

They came to CS labels in order to develop a really outstanding label and utilise all that is best and current about digital label printing.

The labels were short run, limited edition, individually numbered, and unique. The personalisation created a rise in social media activity as consumers who are passionate about real ale enjoyed sending in photos with their ‘unique’ number, and even sharing video content about the ale:

The label also took a bold use of the Color logic technology we specialise in. The metallic colour software created a standout effect without the need for any extra processes such as foiling or other embellishments.

The upshot was that Northern Monk and Allgates could increase awareness and loyalty, as well as enhance their position in the market as being forward thinking and creative. We really enjoyed the project and the end result was just outstanding.
