We attended the SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) BeerX Festival this month, our first time as an exhibitor. The show is a combination of beer tasting, where delegates can sample over 300 award winning brews, as well as an exhibition arena and conference programme for those in the brewing industry.

BeerX Beer Labels

We are pleased to say we have a good reputation in the beer labels market, supplying to many clients in the UK, and were able to offer lots of advice to clients and prospects who came to talk to us on the day. We understand what brewers want from a packaging perspective and how passionate and committed they are to their craft. Many brewers are harnessing the power of digital print because of its excellent high quality (helping their beer stand out amongst the crowd), fast turnaround times (so no need to hold lots of stock), special effect capabilities (using substrates such as Color Logic which enables you to print fantastic metallic looking labels without using foil), and also the fact that we can personalise labels or add variable data easily, and actually in-line on the press at the same time the label is printed – pretty handy if you normally have to individually overprint your labels with batch numbers, best before data etc. In digital print, each label is uniquely printed, and our vast array of presses and technologies mean we can offer a solution that perfectly fits brewers’ requirements.

We also demonstrated our Augmented Reality solution, (AR) using the ‘Gladness’ Beer label that we created for the pop legends Madness. This label, which helped us to scoop the coveted ‘Digital Printer of the Year’ at the 2013 Flexotech Awards, is a great example of the power of AR. Visitors loved the fact that they could scan the label on their smart phone and then watch interactive content, in this case the band themselves launching the beer.

And as the industry grows, (there was a 25% growth in the number of beers brewed in 2013), we look forward to working with even more brewers who really want to gain that extra competitive edge utilising the power of digital labelling.  Cheers to that!
